Shuster + Moseley United Kingdom, b. 1984/1986

Biography

Shuster + Moseley are a London-based artist duo working at the intersection of sculpture, optics, and immersive installation. Their collaborative practice investigates the dual nature of light—as both a physical and metaphysical force—through a sustained enquiry into mediation, perception, and spectrality. Drawing from philosophical inquiry, esoteric traditions, and critical engagements with contemporary technologies, their work transforms interfaces into spaces of attunement and reflection.

Claudia Moseley (b. 1984) studied Fine Art and Textiles at Goldsmiths University and Environmental Anthropology at Kent University. Edward Shuster (b. 1986) holds a PhD in Philosophy from the European Graduate School, with previous studies in World Philosophies (SOAS), Esoteric Philosophies (Exeter), and optics and geometry (Prince’s Foundation). Their combined background informs a unique artistic language rooted in material experimentation and conceptual depth.

Since the early 2010s, Shuster + Moseley have created sculptural environments and “suspended environments” that blur the boundaries between image and object, surface and space. These works act as instruments of perceptual recalibration—immersive experiences that invite stillness, reflection, and embodied presence in an overstimulated visual culture.

Their large-scale public installations have been commissioned for iconic locations such as the Great Pyramids of Giza (Egypt, 2021), Times Square (New York, 2023), Noor Riyadh and Al Ula (Saudi Arabia, 2020 & 2024), and D3 Dubai (2021). They have also exhibited at international biennials and art fairs including Artissima, Art Miami, the Light Art Biennale of Mantova, and the XX Cerveira International Art Biennial (Portugal).

Scientific collaborations form an integral part of their approach: they have worked with leading neuroscientists at Cambridge University and UCL, as well as astrophysicists at the Institute for Computational Cosmology. In 2023, they were featured in British Vogue’s Forces for Change campaign curated by Edward Enninful, highlighting artists shaping the future of visual culture.

Their works are part of international collections including Arts Al Ula, Dorchester Collection, MAD Arts Museum Miami, Swiss Finance Property Group, Almacantar, Fundação de Arte de Cerveira, and the British Embassy in Cairo.
