Galerie Watson was founded in 2023 by Alice Hinrichs and Thomas Holthoff at Milchstraße 2 in Hamburg's Rotherbaum district. The gallery aims to provide access to contemporary light and media art and to present international positions to a local audience. In close cooperation with Galerie Watson, artists are encouraged to move out of the comfort zone of traditional media and genres. A wide-ranging understanding of media, installation and light art meets sound experience of the gallery business.
The programme includes around six curated exhibitions a year as well as participation in exhibitions and projects outside the gallery space. Today, Galerie Watson is one of the youngest generation of Hamburg galleries. It examines, communicates and exhibits contemporary art with an interdisciplinary approach and a postmodern understanding of the genre.
