Regine Schumann — you make my day
The exhibition “you make my day” is the second solo show by internationally renowned light artist Regine Schumann (*1961) at Galerie Watson. On view from 18 September to 20 December 2025, the exhibition centres on new works in which coloured light, transparent materials, and fluorescent pigments merge into vibrant fields of colour and space.
The exhibition title quotes a casually spoken phrase – “you make my day” – that nonetheless carries a surprising power: the idea that a single moment, a glance, a gesture can change everything. Schumann’s works make this idea visually tangible. They respond to changing lighting conditions – be it daylight, blacklight, or darkness – and continually open up new spatial experiences.
A key element of her practice is the use of coloured acrylic glass and fluorescent materials. The gallery’s spaces are transformed into atmospherically charged fields of light and colour, where the visible world dissolves into a sensuous experience of lightness, energy, and transparency.
In a time when attention has become our scarcest resource, the exhibition asks: What truly moves us? When does a moment become significant – and what gives it that meaning?
